My own jazz education was often shaped by someone else's expectations.
There was always another standard to meet, another professor to satisfy, another band to make, another idea about what I was supposed to know or how I was supposed to sound.
But over time, I discovered something that changed the way I thought about learning this music:
The deepest jazz education doesn't come from simply meeting someone else's expectations. It comes from personal discovery.
The great musicians we admire listened deeply. They investigated what fascinated them. They developed their ears, their tastes, their ideas, and their own ways of understanding the music.
Their education ultimately became personal.
And I began to believe that this process shouldn't be reserved for the rare student who somehow figures it out on their own.
That's why I created Creative Mastery.
I want to normalize a different kind of jazz education—one in which becoming knowledgeable and becoming individual aren't competing goals.

Who is Creative Mastery Unlocked for?
Creative Mastery Unlocked is for jazz musicians who want their education to lead toward something personal—their own sound, ideas, performances, recordings, and creative projects. It’s especially suited to musicians who have already begun studying jazz but want a clearer understanding of how the different areas of musicianship fit together and how to direct their own continued development.
What level of jazz experience do I need?
You don’t need to be an advanced player, but you should have some basic experience playing and studying jazz. If you’re already working with tunes, chords, scales, voicings, improvisation, or jazz repertoire—and you want to understand the music more deeply and creatively—you’ll have plenty to work with during the three days.
How do I attend the live masterclasses?
After enrolling, you’ll receive the information you need to attend all three live sessions online, along with the accompanying materials for the masterclass.
What materials are included?
You’ll receive the Creative Toolkit, Musicianship Map, self-assessment tools, Artist Roadmap, and downloadable exercises and resources used throughout the three days. These materials are designed not only to support the live sessions, but to give you tools you can continue using afterward.
Will replays be available?
Yes. Replays will be available as an optional add-on for students who would like to revisit the masterclasses after the live event. The core Creative Mastery Unlocked experience is designed around attending the three sessions live.
What is the refund policy?
If you change your mind, you may request a refund up to 24 hours before the masterclass begins. Because this is a live event with immediate access to course materials and resources, refunds are not available within 24 hours of the start of the masterclass or after the event has begun.
